I’ve been very grateful to have the opportunity to train some island residents in building the sheep dyke.
It’s been great having others to work with after a lack of volunteers this year due to obvious reasons. The dyke goes up much faster with more than one pair of hands!
Having a new generation of residents who are able to build the dyke will be invaluable should huge swaths crumble in future winter storms, and for help leading volunteers at the Sheep Festival.
Everyone has a different building and learning style, which has been great practise for me as the trainer. Everything crossed for working holidays being possible next year!
